Therapy

At ProAACtive Speech Pathology, we provide individual therapy for children and adults with complex communication needs. Every therapy program is tailored to the individual's strengths, interests and communication goals, recognising that no two communicators are the same.

Our therapy focuses on developing communication using a range of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, strategies and supports. We work alongside families, educators, support workers and other professionals to help communication become part of everyday life, not just therapy sessions.

Individual therapy may include:

  • Learning to use a communication device or AAC system

  • Expanding vocabulary and language through AAC

  • Developing communication for a range of purposes, including requesting, commenting, asking questions and social interaction

  • Building literacy skills using AAC and alternative pencils

  • Supporting access methods such as eye gaze, switches or direct touch

  • Programming and customising AAC systems

  • Communication partner coaching for families, schools and support teams

  • Ongoing review and progression of communication goals

Sessions are tailored to each individual and may be provided in our Stirling clinic, at home, in schools, in the community or via telehealth where appropriate.

Our goal is to empower every person to communicate with confidence, independence and purpose.
